--CRAIG RETAINS TITLE AGAINST IAN!!
--LONGTIME WINS LADIES CHAMPIONSHIP!!
--SERRANO GETS HEAD SHAVED!!
Mid American Wrestling returned to the Knights of Columbus in West Allis, WI this past Saturday night, 4/7. Here are your results...
1. GEORGE W. GABLE & DEREK ST. HOLMES, ESQ. & MANSERVANT QUENTIN defeated the team of JASON DUKES & FRANKIE DeFALCO & "DYSFUNCTION" KURT KRUEGER (w/ Dee Dee) in the opener. After Dysfunction put Quentin through a table with a corkscrew senton bomb to the floor, he attempted to superplex Quentin off the 2nd rope. Derek St. Holmes pulled Dys's leg from the outside, causing Quentin to fall on top of him for the pin.
2. "Love Machine" MATT LONGTIME (w/ DP) defeated LADY VICTORIA with a superkick to become the new MAW Ladies Champion!
3. FARMER VIC pinned ALAN "Action" JACKSON with a Samoan drop from the top rope.
4. CM PUNK (w/ DP) defeated ADRIAN SERRANO (w/ Fate) in a hair vs. hair match following a top rope pedigree onto two chairs. During the course of the bout, referee SCOTT DeMARC made several questionable calls, all in favor of Punk, which caused Serrano to become increasingly irritated. DeMarc also overlooked the use of a chain and steel chairs by Punk during the matchup. After Serrano's head was shaved in the ring, MAW promoter CARMINE DeSPIRITO got on the microphone and said that Serrano was screwed over in the bout by not only Punk, but Prazak and DeMarc as well. He then announced that at the next regular MAW event at Knights (after the Hardcore Cup), 5/18... it will be DeMarc wrestling in a tag match with Punk and Prazak taking on Serrano.
5. The returning SKULL KRUSHER defeated DANNY DOMINION via pinfall following an inverted (face-first) Death Valley Driver.
6. HARDCORE CRAIG retained the MAW World Heavyweight Championship against IAN ROTTEN in a Last Man Standing Fans Bring the Weapons match. Fans brought a contraption made of barbed wire and plate glass for the match. Craig ran Ian head-first into the glass, smashing it on one end. Craig then attempted to piledrive Ian in the barbed wire, but Ian cut him off and attempted to powerbomb Craig into it, but Craig backdropped him through the remaining glass and into the bed of barbed wire. Both men laid motionless as referee SCOTT DeMARC made the count. The ref ruled it a draw when both men could not answer the count. MAW promoter CARMINE DeSPIRITO saw it differently and over-ruled DeMarc's decision, stating that Craig was to his knees at the 9 count, and therefore was declared the winner of the contest.
MAW returns to the Knights of Columbus (1800 S. 92nd Street) in West Allis, WI on Friday, April 20th and Saturday, April 21st for the two night 16-man single elimination "Hardcore Cup 2001" death match tournament. MAW @ DAN CURTIS MEMORIAL SHOW
Before I go on with the rest of Indyvelopments, I just got to talk about The Hardcore Cup Tournament. 16 Men and 15 different stipulation death matches! There is one slot left open and I don't know who is gonna be the 16th person in the tournament, and there is also one stipulation left to announce. I have two guesses on who #16 might be, but they're only guesses.
1. The Reverend Axl Future
2. The Sandman
The Reverend Axl Future made it to the semifinals of the Hardcore Cup Tournament last year, by defeating Harley Lewis in the opening round and losing to Corporal Robinson in the semifinals (Last year it was an 8 person tournament, and "The Virgin Princess" Angel (former MAW Ladies Champ was one of the 8 people!). The Blessed Reverend hasn't been on the last few MAW shows and I don't know when he is coming back to MAW. I was hoping he would be in the Hardcore Cup Tournament.
The Sandman has wrestled for The IWA Mid-South a few times this year, and some MAW and IWA Mid-South wrestlers wrestle in both feds, so maybe The Sandman will be #16 in the tournament. He's Hardcore.
The IWA Mid-South has an annual "King of The Deathmatches" Tournament, and The AIWF has their annual "Deal With The Steel" in which EVERY match on the show happens in a steel cage, and most of the matches have other stipulations besides!
Next up is match results from The IWA Mid-South. The match results were sent from Michael, so I guess he wrote them as well. Check out the IWA Mid-South Website at www.iwamidsouth.com. Subscribe to the IWA Mid-South Newsletter by sending a blank e-mail to iwamidsouth-subscribe@yahoogroups.com
IWA Mid-South "April Blood Showers 2001"
Charlestown, Indiana
IWA House of Hardcore
Saturday, April 7, 2001
Sexy Ace Steel (w/Paul E. Smooth) defeated Classic Colt Cabana. As a prone Smooth was out on the floor, Cabana readied himself to leap off the top rope down on Smooth but was cutoff by Steel who grabbed Cabana and hit him with a superplex from the top rope for the pin.
Hy Zaya (w/Uncle Honky) defeated Paul E. Smooth (w/Sexy Ace Steel) to become the new IWA Mid-South Light Heavyweight Champion. Hy Zaya leaped to the top rope ready to hit Smooth with his finisher, the Swanton Bomb, but was nailed by Steel. Steel then entered the ring and proceeded to hit a picture perfect Frankensteiner on Hy Zaya. The only problem was that as Hy Zaya was coming down he landed right on Smooth who was laying on the mat. As Steel celebrated outside, Hy Zaya covered Smooth to win the match and the title.
Corporal Robinson & Blaze defeated Cash Flo and Rugby Thug Trent Baker in a Falls Count Anywhere Match. Jim Fannin announced at the beginning of the match that due to the special stipulations (loser of the fall must leave IWA for 30 days) that he would remain at ringside during the course of the match to ensure that there would be a fair decision in the contest. The ref starting the match was Jon Howard, who counted pinfalls on both Corporal Robinson and Trent Baker but was reversed each time as Howard did not see each man's foot on the ropes during both pinfalls. Fannin then pulled Howard out of the match and brought out IWA's Senior Official, Brent Blades, to referee the rest of the match. The match continued as Corporal even hit "Boot Camp" on Cash but did not go for the pin as he wanted to continue his assault on Baker. Blaze then continued the attack on Cash eventually scoring the pinfall. After the match, Blaze reminded Corporal that he did this favor for him, but that Corporal still owes him one.
Adam Gooch, who was not scheduled on the card, made his way to ringside with a bucket full of thumbtacks. He called out Suicide Kid and offered his apologies for his injury telling Kid that he never meant to hurt him. He told Kid that he copied his moves and his name because he wanted to be like him. He told Kid that he wanted to show his loyalty to Suicide Kid by taking on Alister Fear in a Thumbtack Death Match. Kid agreed, which led to ...
Alister Fear defeated Adam Gooch. Gooch, who is a highly technical wrestler, gave everything that he had against Alister in this extreme match. Many in the crowd did not think Gooch stood any chance of winning this match, but came close on several occasions. In the end, though, Gooch could not overcome the experience that Alister has in these type of matches and fell victim to Alister's finisher "Final Fear" in the thumbtacks. After the match, Gooch called out the Suicide Kid and stated that he wanted the first shot at Cash Flo when he gets back to IWA in 30 days. This prompted Cash Flo to leave the dressing room and attack Suicide Kid from behind, knocking him out of the ring. A short brawl erupted between Cash and Gooch eventually sending Cash heading back to the dressing room.
Classic Colt Cabana defeated Mark Wolf. Before the match started, Mark got on the mic and stated that his friend Harry Palmer was taking some time away from wrestling and his other friend, Ian Rotten, is in Milwaukee wrestling. Mark then said he also now has a female friend, that "really, really likes" him and that she is "really, really young". He then brings out Summer, a very young looking woman wearing a very sexy schoolgirl outfit with a blowpop in her mouth. During the course of the match, Summer tries to interfere on Mark's behalf but Mark keeps telling her not to interfere as Mark does not have any beef with Cabana. This was a back and forth match that eventually saw Cabana pin Wolf following a jumping moonsault from the top rope.
Chris Hero (w/Breeze) defeated American Kickboxer (w/Uncle Honky) in a Falls Count Anywhere Tables & Ladders Match. This had to be one of the most spectacular and emotional matches I have ever witnessed. These two men have been having spectacular matches over the past several weeks. This one was no different. American Kickboxer even jumped off the top of the concession stand and nailed Hero with one awesome Frankensteiner. Several points in the match turned into a brawl as the original ref, Brent Blades, and Hero's valet, Breeze, both went through tables. As well, several tables were stacked near the balcony of the building. One set had two tables stacked on top of each other with a single table setup next to that. Hero made his way to the balcony yelling at Kickboxer to come up to meet him up there. Kickboxer made his way to the balcony and Hero greeted Kickboxer with a flurry of punches. Hero then scooped up Kickboxer for a powerbomb off the balcony through the two tables but was reversed into a frankensteiner knocking Hero off the balcony through the stacked tables. Kickboxer, in executing the move, came off the balcony and landed through the single table. Hero then gathered his senses and crawled over covering Kickboxer for the victory.
Both men then made their way to the ring surrounded by much of the locker room. Kickboxer then told them to turn the camera off and then told everyone, with tears in his eyes, that they just witnessed the final wrestling match of American Kickboxer in IWA. Chris Hero then got on the mic and stated that he had two things he wanted to say to Kickboxer. First, was thank you. The other was that he respected him. A very emotional crew and crowd then sent off the Kickboxer to a standing ovation.
(As an aside note, I have watched the American Kickboxer in IWA since March 1996. His matches with the likes of Tarek the Great, Tyrin, Reckless Youth, Twiggy Ramirez, and later on, guys like Suicide Kid and JProdigy were some of the most phenomenal and breath-taking matches I have ever witnessed. I could spend all day talking about my favorite American Kickboxer matches. I would just like to say that as a wrestling fan, thank you American Kickboxer for everything you have done for professional wrestling in this area. It is honestly guys like you that make what I do here in the newsletter and the website such an enjoyable experience. You will never be forgotten in IWA.)
Mean Mitch Page defeated 2 Tuff Tony and Rollin Hard in a three way dance to become the new IWA Mid-South Heavyweight Champion. In what was just an all out brawl, each man was determined to walk away with the title. The match started off slow with all three men feeling their opponents out. Things eventually broke down into the standard IWA brawl that we are known for. Page grabbed a lightube from a fan and yelled out "Do you want me to use this?" As the fans cheered, Page threw the tube to the ground, breaking it, and yelled "How many times are you going to fall for that?" Tony and Rollin concentrated on much of the match on Page trying to take him out of the match. As both men were attacking Page, their relationship eventually broke down and they started beating each other as both men wanted to score the pinfall on Page. Page eventually came back knocking Rollin out of the ring and giving Tony a "Rock Bottom" in the center of the ring. Page made his way to the top and hit what is now to be called the "420 Snuka Splash", a splash from the top of the ring to the prone opponent below, in this case, 2 Tuff Tony, gaining the pinfall victory and the title. Page grabbed the mic after the match and said that he has done everything in IWA except for beating ECW's Hardcore Icon, The Sandman. Sandman made his way into the ring, but was soon attacked by Mad Man Pondo. Sandman was double teamed by both men and even had his arm placed into a metal folding chair while Page came crashing down on the chair. The save was made by Blaze and Corporal Robinson.
(I met up with Page later in the night and asked him about the name of his finisher and he threatened to show me the move firsthand if I didn't leave him and Pondo alone. It didn't take long for me to figure out I was unwanted so I quickly jetted out of his dressing room. If anyone wants to know, you are going to have to ask him yourself, but personally, that could be very risky.)
In the main event, it was former five-time ECW Heavyweight Champion The Sandman defeating Mad Man Pondo in an "I Quit" Match. Sandman, out for revenge for the attack just a few minutes earlier, concentrated mainly on the arm of Mad Man Pondo. Pondo, in return, used several submission moves of his own including the STF and a standing leg lock. Sandman came back with a figure four leg lock of his own. As Pondo was laying out the mat, Sandman laid several chairs on Pondo and urged the fans to throw their chairs in the ring, which they did in droves. Sandman set up six chairs in the ring placing lightubes over them leaving Pondo face first on the glass. Sandman then climbed the ropes and landed on Pondo leaving him face first in the glass. Sandman then began to grind Pondo's face in the glass until Pondo was forced to submit.

French Lake Wrestling Association
4/5 Kimball, MN
Kimball High School, 7:30 p.m.
The High Rollers and Lenny Lane came to the ring. Mago said he wanted his name in the hat for the hardcore tournament and then announced FLWA champion Lenny Lane didn't have an opponent and called out commissioner Terry Fox. Lenny got on the mic and said 80 percent of all males in Kimball, Minnesota, are gay. The crowd popped, probably in agreement! Then Lenny said after looking at the women in Kimball, he would be gay too. Another pop. He said that the 20 percent who are not gay in Kimball are married to their sister. Fox came out and Mago ripped on him on the mic. Fox told them he will find an opponent. Then a person in a wheel chair (who helped organize the show) came to ringside. Lenny asked him if he'd like to get in the ring and told him he had a stack of dimes for a neck and that his upper body is suing his lower body for support. He added that he had a string hanging from his shirt and said, "Oh that's your arm." Then Lenny got out of the ring and dumped the guy in the wheel chair over. A guy dressed as Macho Man helped him back into the chair. (There were guys dressed as Macho Man and Bam Bam Bigelow along with a woman dressed up sitting at a VIP table.)
Match one
Red Lightning (heel) with McCoy Counterfeit pinned Big Daddy Hoofer (face).
Former Chippendale dancer McCoy Counterfeit grabbed the mike and said he was going to bring something for the men tonight, but the promoter wouldn't allow sheep into the building and Red Lightning laughed his annoying laugh. Then Counterfeit did his dance. Methodical action early that led to Counterfeit choking Hoofer with his tie. Red Lightning hit Hoofer with a big spinning heel kick that busted up Hoofer's mouth. Hoofer reversed things with a power bomb. Moments later, Hoofer hit a top rope splash but Counterfeit distracted referee Jimmy Kennedy so Hoofer came over to protest. Lightning grabbed Hoofer and gave him a Michinoku driver and pinned him. Hoofer beat on Counterfeit after the match with a drop kick.
Match two
Mitch Paradise (face) pinned Blood (heel)
Blood dominated most of match with low blows. Finish came when Mitch caught Blood with a pile driver and pinned him.
Match three
Horace the Psychopath (face) pinned Magnus Maximus
The brawled around the gym early with Horace slamming Maximus' face into the wall, putting a garbage can on Magnus' head and spitting pop on him among other things. Magnus controlled the action in the ring. The finish came when Horace hit a big clothesline that sent Magnus spinning around to the mat and pinned him in the most entertaining match of the night.
Match four
Whakked (Hater and Scotty Zappa) with the High Rollers defeated Chi-Town Thug and Dr. Darin Davis
Whakked took it to Chi-Town Thug for much of the early match with Thug occasionally fighting back. Finally Dr. Darin Davis was tagged in, who took it to Whakked until he was double teamed. All four were in the ring when Davis gave Zappa a drop toe hold and put on the glove and darn near gave Zappa the thrill of a lifetime, but Zappa was able to give Davis a mule kick low blow. Then Zappa took the tag belt and hit Davis behind referee Kennedy's back and pinned him.
Match five
Highroller Mago pinned Highroller STX in a hardcore match
This match was drawn from a hat as part of a hardcore tournament. Mago was the first name drawn. While the High Rollers were in the ring, Commissioner Terry Fox drew the second name and showed the crowd. It was STX. Eventually, the two squared off and both ended up bleeding. The best spot of the match was when STX put a toilet seat on Mago and then stuck the plunger to the top of his head. Finish came when Lenny Lane came out and gave STX a memory lane and Mago pinned him. After the match, Lenny and Mago beat on STX until Fox made the save.
Match six
FLWA champion Lenny Lane pinned Commissioner Terry Fox
Fox started on fire, taking the action to Lenny with a back body drop, a couple of clotheslines, 10 punches in the corner and a power slam. That got him a two count as Lenny kicked out. Fox was distracted by Mago and chased him around the ring until Lane caught Fox with a clothesline and then through him back in the ring. Fox ended up giving Lenny a fallaway slam but was once again distracted by Mago. Lenny took over. A little bit later, Fox tried a sunset flip and pulled down the back of Lenny's trucks. A pair of socks fell out of Lenny's trunks. Referee Jay Soltis held the socks up to the crowd as Lenny protested and Fox rolled him up for two. Eventually, Lenny reversed the Irish whip and Fox hit Soltis. The fake Macho Man jumped in the ring, but Lenny greeted him with the memory lane. The same thing happened for the fake Bam Bam Bigelow. Fox recovered and gave Lenny a stunner but Soltis was still knocked out. Lenny gave Fox a jaw breaker and STX came out with a cookie sheet and looked ready to hit Lenny, but he turned on Fox and hit him. Lenny covered Fox for the pin. Fox ended up bleeding.
Overall: Solid night of action. Crowd was about 200.

As a bonus, I decided to include results from last year's Mid-American Wrestling Hardcore Cup Tournament, which was on May 27, 200. So now you can read about what happened last year. Remember, there will be twice as many deathmatches this year!
Mid American Wrestling returned to the Knights of Columbus in West Allis, WI this past Saturday night, 5/27, with "HARDCORE CUP 2000." The event drew a jam-packed standing room crowd of over 350 rowdy fans to the small venue to witness the most violent wrestling event of the year. Here's what went down Saturday night...
1. DEREK ST. HOLMES, ESQUIRE (w/ Quentin) and "Britney Spears' Boyfriend" CHUCK E. SMOOTH wrestled to a no-contest in the opening match when both wrestlers decided to stop wrestling each other, claiming the fans were only there to see barbed wire, broken tables, and blood. Derek thought they should want to see technical wrestling, while Chuck E. thought they should want to see him dance. MAD MAN PONDO, on the other hand, came out with his stop sign and whacked both men (as well as Quentin and referee SCOTT DeMARC) over the head, declaring the tournament should start right away. This prompted the "Princess of the Death Matches" ANGEL to come out of the locker room. She and Pondo exchanged words on the microphone about their upcoming match in the first round of the tournament, but security held Angel back from attacking him.
***First Round***
2. REVEREND AXL FUTURE (w/ Arc Angel Vincent) defeated HARLEY LEWIS in a Barbed Wire Table Match. The object of the bout was to put your opponent through a table wrapped in barbed wire. This was a very hard-hitting match, and Lewis brutalized the Reverend for much of the contest. After setting the table on its side in one of the corners of the ring, both Future and Vincent gave Lewis a double-team powerbomb, sending him neck-first through the bottom edge of the table. It was ruled that the table was not sufficiently broken, and the match continued, only for Future to then spear Lewis through the rest of the table, and advance to the second round.
3. CORPORAL ROBINSON (w/ DP) defeated "Mean" MITCH PAGE in a Barbed Wire Chain Match. This was the second time these two men faced off in a Hardcore Cup bout, and just as he did in 1999, Corporal scored a victory over Page. Robinson got the three count on the ringside floor after executing the Boot Camp (Russian legsweep/cobra clutch combination) off the ring apron through a table on the floor.
4. HARDCORE CRAIG (w/ DP) defeated referee SCOTT DeMARC in a Barbed Wire Boards & Mousetraps Match. 2 Tuff Tony had been scheduled to face Craig in the first round of the tournament, but due to an injury, Tony was not able to compete. Before a replacement opponent could be announced, DeMarc came to the ring and complained on the microphone about how the wrestlers have been constantly bullying him around, throwing him into barbed wire, piles of thumbtacks, and everything else for way too long. He then said he would stick up for himself, and compete in the tournament against Craig. What resulted was one of the most hellacious beatings anyone has taken in the history of the Knights of Columbus. Craig scored the win after sandwiching DeMarc between two barbed wire covered boards, and hitting a frog splash off the top rope.
5. MAD MAN PONDO defeated ANGEL in a Thumbtack Death Match. Angel made wrestling history as she became the first woman to compete in a death match tournament anywhere in the world. She put in a strong showing against Pondo, but ultimately Pondo scored a pinfall after hitting her over the head with the stop sign.
***Second Round***
6. MAD MAN PONDO defeated HARDCORE CRAIG (w/ DP) in a Cactus Death Match to advance to the tournament final. During this match, a staple gun came into play, which Pondo used to staple Craig in several body parts, including stapling dollar bills to his forehead and nose. Craig also turned the tables on Pondo, stapling a dollar bill to his cheek. The match came to a conclusion when Craig attempted to superplex Pondo through a cactus laying across two chairs in the ring, but Pondo blocked it and gave Craig a Rock Bottom through the cactus before scoring the pin.
7. CORPORAL ROBINSON (w/ DP) defeated REVEREND AXL FUTURE in a Taipei Death match (broken glass glued to the wrestlers' taped fists and scattered in the center of the ring) to advance to the finals of the tournament. Corp gave Future the Boot Camp in a pile of the broken glass and held onto it for a submission victory.
***Final Round***
8. MAD MAN PONDO defeated CORPORAL ROBINSON (w/ DP) in the finals of the tournament, a Live Fluorescent Lightbulb Barbed Wire Board Match, to become the winner of Hardcore Cup 2000. For this match, fluorescent lightbulb housings were attached to three barbed wire covered boards, plugged into electrical outlets, and turned on for the duration of the match, while the ring lights at the Knights of Columbus were turned off. This created an eerie atmosphere for the main event as the two competitors battled one another amidst the glow of the barbed wire boards. Robinson hit Pondo with a top rope huracanrana through one of the boards set up between two chairs in the ring, but couldn't score a pinfall. Pondo later hit Corporal with a fisherman buster off the top rope through another board set up between chairs, but Dave Prazak distracted referee Jerry "The Mauler" Maywald. Hardcore Craig then hit the ring, attacking Pondo, and laying Corporal on top of him in a pinning position. Maywald went down to count, but at two Pondo used his leverage to roll Robinson's shoulders to the mat for a quick three count, to win the tournament. An irate Prazak entered the ring to attack Pondo, to no effect, as Pondo whacked him with the stop sign for good measure. After the match, the "Extreme Dream Team" of Robinson & Craig complained of a fast count by Maywald, and demanded a rematch at the next Knights event. Pondo, joined by his new valet Colleen in post-match celebration, said he wanted a rematch too, this time with Corp's MAW Heavyweight Title on the line. It was agreed upon, and will be the main event of the June 16th card at Knights.
