The ring announcer was Gino Lanza. Referee for the night was Craig Smith
Match 1: Romeo Valentino vs. the Natural
Romeo came out of the back and said that there is no one in the back that is big enough to fight him. The Natural came out with a big cheer from the crowd and took the challenge. They locked up and Romeo gave an arm drag. Romeo cocked off to the crowd and when he turned around, Natural slammed him down. Natural then sent Romeo into the ropes for a clothesline followed by a back body drop. Romeo then proceeded to bail out of the ring. When Romeo came back into the ring, he gave Natural a shoulder to the gut and started to work on Natural. Natural had a couple of comebacks, but when Romeo Irish whipped him to the corner the Natural came running out with a spear. Both men laid out for a 7 count, then Natural hit a spinebuster, followed by a rock bottom for the pin.
Match 2: Prep Boy Timothy vs. Ryan Rogue
This was Timothy's first singles match. They locked up and Timothy drove Rogue back to the corner, there was a clean break. They locked up again with Timothy overpowering Rogue to the corner again. On the break, Timothy attempted to hit Rogue. Rogue ducked and hit Timothy with punches followed by flying elbow, arm drag and hiptoss. Timothy claimed that Rogue pulled his hair. Rogue got the crowd going and Timothy pulled him by the hair into the ropes and gave him an Irish whip. Rogue ducked and hit Timothy with a high knee. Timothy cheap shots Rogue and took over the match. Rogue had some comebacks, but kept getting knocked back down. Rogue ended up outside the ring and Timothy suplexed him back into the ring. Timothy set Rogue up on the top rope and Rogue fought back with punches and a hurricarana. Both men got up and Timothy missed a clothesline, which set him up for a neckbreaker by Rogue. Rogue threw Timothy in the ropes and Timothy kicked him in the guts, followed by a powerbomb. As Timothy picked up Rogue, he was kicked in the guts and Rogue gave him a double underhook facebuster for the pin.
Match 3: Rat vs. Action Jackson
Rat called Gino a balding fat-ass, which pissed the crowd off. He then told Gino to take a break and he announced his opponent himself. Rat offered Action a handshake and kicked him in the gut while they were shaking. Rat Irish whipped Action into the ropes, but Action hit Rat with a couple of kicks and Rat bailed. Action followed Rat to the floor, but when he went to reenter the ring, Rat was all over him with kicks and punches. Rat worked on Action for a while, then threw him out to the floor. When Action went to come back in, he gave Rat a couple of shoulders, followed by a sunset over the ropes. Rat kicked out of the attempted pin and leveled Action. As Action was getting worked on by Rat, he attempted some comebacks, (crossbody, moved out of way of a splash for a roll up, and a crucifix sunset) but was cut off each time. Rat put Action on the top turnbuckle and Action did a sunset off of the top putting both men out for a 5 count. When both men got up Action blocked Rat's punches and hit him with a dropkick, and a backbody drop. Action climbed to the ropes and gave Rat 10 punches. He whipped Rat, but Rat reversed. Rat ran at Action in the corner, but Action hit him in the gut with a knee. Action then jumped onto Rat's shoulder and rolled forward for an attempted pin, but was stopped when Rat grabbed the ropes and sat on Action for the pin. Action told the referee (Craig) that Rat had a hold of the ropes, but Craig didn't see it happen.
Match 4: Judge Jesse vs. J-Rock
Gino introduced Judge Jesse as Judge Judy and the crowd got a kick out of it. Jesse then demanded that Gino reintroduce him as The Honorable Judge Jesse. As Gino did he "accidentally" introduced him as Judy again. J-Rock started the crowd going with a "Judy" chant. Both men locked up and did a couple of reverses on each other until Jesse grabbed the ropes for a break. As they locked up again Jesse reversed J-Rock into a headlock. J-Rock gave a couple of elbows and threw Jesse into the ropes. J-Rock took a tackle, did a dropdown and caught Jesse with an armdrag. He worked the arm a little until Jesse managed to climb to the top rope and give J-rock a flying arm drag. J-rock got up behind Jesse and when he turned around he gave Jesse 2 quick armdrags and started to work the arm again. When the Judge climbed to the top rope again, J-rock pushed him to the floor. When Jesse attempted to come in the ring he cut J-rock off with the top rope and hit him with a springboard legdrop. Jesse worked J-rock over. J-rock had a few comebacks. At one point Judge had J-rock in the walls of Jericho, but J-rock pushed out of it which lead to a few quick reversals for 2 counts. Jesse leveled J-rock after that and started to work him over again. Judge Jesse went for his finisher (death sentence), which is a flipping legdrop from the top turnbuckle, but J-rock moved. Both were out for a 8 count. J-rock blocked punches and punched Jesse until he went down, then he hit a dropkick and a backbody drop, which set him up for a Lionsault. Jesse kicked out and begged to the corner. Jesse came a J-rock with a clothesline, but J-rock ducked, hit a Russian leg sweep and went to the top rope for a splash and a pin.
Match 5: Cell Block 5 (Big Bubba) vs. Trailer Trash Tim
Bubba came out and danced around a bit, and TTT was escorted by Sexy Stacy and Rain. As TTT was talking to the girls through the ropes, Bubba attacked him from behind. Bubba threw TTT into the ropes and TTT ducked a clothesline. He came back with a Lou Thesz Press (Stone Cold). TTT then threw Bubba in the corner and hit a bulldog when he bounced out. TTT got a 2 count, then picked Bubba up and gave him a dropkick, followed by another 2 count. Bubba then grabbed the referees leg and was pleading for help. TTT hit him with a clothesline and a suplex for a 2 count, followed by a leg sweep and a monkey flip for another 2 count. Bubba gave TTT a low blow, followed by a clothesline and a knee to the face. Bubba proceeded to work over TTT and at one point while TTT was on his back, Bubba danced around him cockily. Bubba covered TTT, but pulled him up on a 1 count 3 times and thought it was funny. As Bubba worked over TTT there were a few times where TTT did a few roll ups on Bubba. Bubba threw TTT in the ropes and missed a clothesline. TTT followed that up by stopping and hitting Bubba with a stunner when he turned around for the pin.
Match 6: Angel and Michael Mercedes Armoni vs. Horace and Switch.
Horace and Switch are the AAW tag team champions. Horace and Angel started the match. They locked up and did some reversals until Horace had Angle in a headlock. While he had Angel in a headlock Mercedes ran at Horace and was given a backbody drop. Horace still had Angel in the headlock when Mercedes came at him again and received a boot to the face for his efforts. Then Horace tagged Switch in and he gave Mercedes a fallaway slam. Whenever there was a cover on Mercedes, Angel would break it up. This match lasted a very long time and so many different doubleteams and good moves in it that I don't have time to list them all. A few times during the match Horace had tagged switch in, but the referee never saw it. When Switch was finally tagged in again he hit both Armonis with clotheslines, powerslams, then threw both into the same corner and gave a big running splash on both. The referee was kicked when Switch was spinning Mercedes around and all four started fighting. Mercedes hit a very high swanton during this brawl. While the ref was still knocked out, Angel got a ladder and brought it into the ring. Switch was thrown into the ladder and hit in the back with a chair. Horace then leveled both Armonis and then picked up a chair. The ref came to and saw the Armonis down and Horace with a chair and disqualified Horace and Switch. When the Armonis got up they went to the time table and took the title belts. Jim Gagnon told them to put the belts down, because they can't win titles on a DQ. Jim and Angle argued for a while. Horace and Switch were mad a Craig (referee), so they powerbombed Craig and proceeded to beat him up. The Armonis then attacked the champs from behind and everyone started brawling. Jim Gagnon called security and 8 security guards tried to separate the wrestlers. Jim told Angel to get the hell out of his ring. Jim and a security person pulled Angle out of the ring by his legs and then all 4 wrestlers were fined. As Angel was leaving he ran back into the ring and everyone started going at each other again. Jim told the security to let them fight, and in the end Horace and Switch were left standing. Jim Gagnon told everyone that since the Armonis like ladders there will be a ladder match with these 2 teams on 4-28 in Brokaw for $5,000. The referee had to be carried out of the ring by security.
Match 7: Vennom, Big Dog, Hannibal vs. Natural, Bull, Mad Wolverine in a 16-foot high scaffold match. The pin in this match had to take place inside the ring. Gino had to referee this match, because Craig had been hurt and could not continue. Vennom and Bull started off the match. Bull gave Vennom a tackle. Vennom dropped down, did a mid ring, followed by a dropkick. He then did a backflip and landed on Bull. Vennom picked up Bull in a head lock and Bull delivered a belly to back suplex. He then gave Vennom a choke slam. Bull tagged Wolverine in and put Vennom in the banana splits. Wolverine came off the top turnbuckle with a double axe nut shot. Wolverine clotheslined Vennom and gave a couple of quick elbows then tagged in Natural. Natural pressed Vennom above his head and threw him into his corner so that he could tag in Hannibal. Hannibal and Natural locked up and Natural overpowered Hannibal into the foursome's corner. Natural tagged Bull. Bull whipped Hannibal into the ropes and Hannibal hit Bull with a powerful tackle. Hannibal worked on Bull for a while, then tagged in Big Dog. Big Dog Irish whipped Bull, but bull reversed it. Bull hit Big Dog with a rolling thunder (ran and jumped sideways to hit his back into Big Dog's gut), then Bull got on his hands and knees in the center of the ring and Natural ran, jumped off of Bulls back and gave Big Dog a headbutt to the nuts. Wolverine was tagged in and grabbed Big Dog by the head. Wolverine ran up the ropes and jumped off giving Big Dog a stunner. Everyone came in the ring and started fighting. They fought all over in and out of the ring. Big Dog busted 2 florescent bulbs over Naturals head and threw him through 3 more bulbs. He then threw Natural through the door and the fought out in the parking lot. Everyone ended up getting hit with chairs, doors, cans, thrown into walls. Natural and Big Dog ended up back inside, and it was a big gang fight. Big Dog attempted to do a senton onto Natural (from scaffold into ring), but Natural moved. Vennom and Wolverine were fighting on the scaffold and Wolverine threw Vennom off and flipped him into the ring. Hannibal kept fighting bull and they both got beat up pretty bad. Wolverine jumped from the scaffold onto the top rope and springboarded to splash Vennom in the ring. The foursome got the upper hand and Vennom was placed on a table in the ring. At the same time Big Dog was placed on a table on the floor. Wolverine and Natural at the same time came off the scaffold onto the wrestlers and through the tables. Natural went through the table on the floor and Wolverine went through Vennom in the ring and followed it up with a 3 count for the win. Almost all wrestlers were bleeding when this match was over, and the crowd went crazy.
The crowd in Brokaw was a very energetic and loud crowd. They kept yelling all night and left knowing they had seen a very good show.
Steel Domain Wrestling
3/31 West St. Paul, MN
at the West St. Paul Armory
About two hundred people attended the Steel Domain Wrestling show on 3/31 at the WSP Armory. The show started with promoter Ed Hellier hitting the ring. He grabbed the mic and wanted to make sure fans understood that SDW was not the PWA who had run the week before and that SDW would no longer be aligned with a those promoters, calling them a big series of names.
After that, Colt Cabana came to ring and told the crowd he would be challenging for the SDW heavyweight title since he beat champion Danny Dominion the month before. Dominion hit the ring, and said that Colt would not be getting the title shot, but offered the shot to CM Punk instead, but if Punk won, he would give the belt to Cabana. They agreed, and Colt asked who he would be facing. Enter Len Walker.
Colt Cabana over Len Walker in 6:14
Colt hit a nice somersault pescado early. Once back in the ring, Cabana controlled the first three minutes before Walker hit two good suplexes, a release northern lights suplex and a belly to belly off the turnbuckles. After a two count, Walker picked up Colt and hit him with a stiff clothesline. That was about his entire offense for the match. Another two count, and then Walker placed Cabana on the turnbuckle. Cabana hit Walker in the face, then did a tornado suplex out of the corner. He followed it up with a brainbuster for the pin.
SDW Champion Danny Dominion (w/Adara James) over CM Punk in 8:53
The crowd was behind Punk all night. Early on, he powered out of a wheelbarrow slam to roll up Dominion to the crowd's delight. This match was very fast paced and hadtil Dominion went for a monkey flip. Punk caught himself, ran to the other side and jumped up onto the turnbuckle. Dominion caught him, punched him, and backed up so he could leap up to the top rope. He took Punk over with the frankensteiner, but Punk didn’t get over enough and landed on top of Dominion. Punk came back with a powerslam and sleeper, but Dominion got out with the jawbreaker. Dominion then hit two Michinoku Drivers before James got up on the top rope to try and catch Punk with a rana. But Punk moved and Dominion was hit instead early on that had amazing elevation. Most of the match consisted of Jesser interfering to help Derrick win. The end came when Jesser distracted the ref so Derrick could hit PT with his book. After the pin, Derrick and Jesser worked over PT until Butch McLain made the save.
Flex Appeal (Eric Priest and Tony Denucci w/Travis Lee) over Scotty Zappa and Ace Steel (w/Mortimer Plumtree) in 14:37
Basic heel vs heel match, and the crowd had no clue who to cheer for so they didn’t. Zap and Ace worked over Priest until the hot tag, then they switched, this time with FA working over Ace until the second hot tag. It appeared to be a transition match to set up the Scotty Zappa face turn, though they never hinted at it. It just happened. The match was mostly punching and kicking with Tony laying in a few good chops. The highest spot was a double ax handle by Priest off of the second turnbuckle, and a military press by Zappa. The end consisted of Ace making the hot tag to Zappa, and when Zappa pushed DeNucci into the ropes for the roll up, Ace was knocked to the floor. After the two count, Zappa went to check on Steel, and was rolled up for the pin by DeNucci in return. Zappa and Steel fought until Dominion ran in for the double team. Lenny Lane entered and cleared the ring. He and Zappa hugged.
Rikki Noga over Travis Lee in 5:57
Noga came in first and told the crowd that he had recently moved to the Twin Cities and that he would be happy to defend their honor. He proceeded to face the dreaded Wisconsinite Travis Lee. Two minutes in, Noga hit a tope outside, but missed the high cross body off the top turnbuckle once they were back in the ring. Lee controlled the rest, hitting a good backbreaker, and a springboard diving headbutt off of the ropes. After a comeback, Noga hit the high cross body from the top for the 1-2-3. Flex Appeal came to ringside, but Noga got away.
Colt Cabana over Brad Bradley in 11:21
Dominion was at ringside with Adara James to witness this one. Colt dominates the first five minutes of the match until Bradley is able to hit him from behind while Colt jaws with Dominion. Dominion caught Colt as he came through the ropes and hotshot him on the guard rail. The two guys trade moves and counters for the next four minutes. Colt then hit a huracanrana and a butterfly suplex. He followed it up with the moonsault for the win.
"ECW Star" Magnus Maxium over Tony DeNucci
This match was pretty solid, though not quite as good as last week's, most likely due to the lack of trash can shots this week. Magnus hit two big clotheslines. DeNucci at one point rode Magnus like a horse on the ropes. Finish saw Magnus hit a sidewalk slam and a face slam for the pin. For those keeping count at home, it was Magnus who won, 6 chops to 3.
CM Punk and "Sick" Nick Mondo wrestled to a draw in 12:21
Lots of high spots from these two. Mondo started by running down the crowd. At one point, Mondo used a rolling leg capture suplex, hitting the suplex three times in a row. Punk hit a release German suplex and a fisherman buster. Mondo debuted a new move to the Twin Cities when he placed Punk's legs over the ropes and his head on a chair at one of the ring, and flew from the other side connecting with a leg drop. Maybe Shane-O heard about it and it inspired him to do the Van Terminator the next night at Wrestlemania. Mondo rolled up Punk with the leg bridge in an attempt to pin him, but Punk pulled Mondo’s shoulders down onto the mat as well, forcing ref Jay Soltis to count both men down. The match was ruled a draw.
PT Lumpkin and Butch McLain over Derrick St. Holmes and Len Walker in :58
One might assume that Walker's spot was meant for Dan Jesser, who stormed out of the building dressed in his tights after DSH’s earlier match, even though he had been dressed in street clothes at ringside. Match consisted of both teams fighting in the ring, and Butch hitting DSH with the big boot. Butch and Walker go to the outside as PT covers St. Holmes. Ref Frank Stool counts two before DSH kicks out. PT looks at Stool, then back at St. Holmes. Stool then changes his mind and rules his two count a three count, and raises PT’s hand. PT doesn’t except the win, and Butch comes in to level DSM. PT picks up St Holmes, and hits him with the X-factor. He pins him for this time for a count of three. Reading this took about three times longer than the actual match.
Flex Appeal (Travis Lee and Eric Priest w/Tony DeNucci) over Chi-Town Thug and Blood
Travis Lee did a great job of bumping for Thug early in the match. Made him look really strong. End saw Blood make the hot tag to Thug, who is then pulled out of the ring by DeNucci. While the ref is breaking it up, Priest hit Blood with a kendo stick and put Lee on top. Ref counts three even though Thug was the legal man.
Hollywood Hardbodies (Ace Steel and Danny Dominion) over Scotty Zappa and Lenny Lane
Started out as Dominion vs. Zappa. After a ref bump, which got the pop of the night from a very anti-Soltis crowd, both Steel and Lane ran into the ring to interfere. Ref Frank Stool took control and proceeds to make it a tag match. The Hardbodies then work over Zappa until he is finally able to make the hot tag. While Scotty took care of Dominion outside the ring, Lenny rolled up Steel in a small package to bring home the win.
