NAWF Television
NAWF Pro Wrestling All-Stars 07-14-2001
Week #2 of NAWF Pro Wrestling All-Stars is upon us. The show started off with a recap of last week's show, and showed highlights of the matches that aired. The show opened with NAWF Commisioner Ricky Yamamoto in the studio, along with Brandon Blaze. Blaze stated how glad he was to be in the NAWF. The matches on this week's episode came from the taping in Jefferson in late June. They then cut to the first match which was:
Tweek Phoenix and Damien Swift vs. Rockin' Randy and Eric Freedom
Tweek and Damien are a couple of 18 year olds who wrestle mainly for Powerhouse Championship Wrestling down in Central Illinois. Damien is known as Damien Demonic down there. Prior to the match, Rockin' Randy ignited the crowd with his rendition of the classic "Jenny (867-5309.)" Fortunately, Tweek and Damien interrupted Randy, and the match started quick. After knocking Randy to the outside, Damien went for a somersault plancha off of the ring apron. However, Randy moved, and Damien made a huge "splat" as he hit the floor hard. Early in the matchup, Randy and Eric distracted referee Jimmy Kennedy allowing them to use illegal tactics to dominate early on. Tweek looked pretty good in the matchup, hitting a couple of nice leg lariats. The end of the match came when Tweek received Eric Freedom's "Hippie Hippie Shake" swinging neckbreaker followed by Rockin' Randy's "Mamma Jammer" top rope leg drop for the pin.
Jake Milliman vs. Mr. Intensity
As we came back from commercial, Jake Milliman was coming to the ring at the same time Rockin' Randy and Eric Freedom were leaving. Randy and Eric did not move for Jake, so he had to walk in between them, bumping shoulders with them. As the match started, there was a big "Jake" chant from the crowd. This matchup was back and forth the whole way, with Jake hitting his trademark moves such as the flying double axehandle and standing powerslam. Rockin' Randy and Ricky Yamamoto were the commentators in this match. Whenever Yamamoto studdered during commentary, Randy would comment, "Ta ta today, junior" like Adam Sandler in Billy Madison, which was pretty funny. The end of the match came after Jake hit his second rope headbutt for the pin. Following the match, Randy and Eric ran out of the "booth" and attacked Jake Milliman. They cut away from the carnage, and cut right to the next match.
Private Area/Major Payne vs. Ryan Rogue/Brandon Blaze
This match started off quick, with Rogue and Blaze dropkicking Area and Payne out of the ring. Blaze then hit a pescado and Rogue hit a top rope plancha. Rogue and Blaze had the crowd solidly behind them, using solid double-team moves. Area and Payne took the advantage back over when Blaze attempted to climb the ropes for a side headlock takeover onto Area, however he reversed it into a sitout wheelbarrow face buster. This matchup went back and forth, with both teams using very good double team moves. The end of the match came when Payne attempted to whip Rogue into a steel chair held by Area, but it was reversed, and Payne went into the chair. That was followed by the total elimination for the pin.
Thoughts:
For the taping, the single camera was placed on a truck away from the ring. That looked a lot better than having the single camera near the ring apron. The viewers were able to see the entire ring easier, without having obstructions in the ring. That's all for this week.
