All American Wrestling
7/6 Eau Claire, WI
Eau Claire Civic Center, 7:30 p.m.
To open the show, they announced that former WWF star George "The Animal" Steele will be appearing at the AAW show on July 29. Things got rolling with Angel Armoni and son, Michael Mersades Armoni, cutting a promo in the ring. Angel was excited to hear that one of his favorites, George Steele, was going to be their next time, but Michael asked who he was. Eventually, the segment led to promoter Jim Gagnon telling Angel that he would face Steele at that show. Of course, Angel wasn't happy about it. Then Angel called out Weird Cookie to talk about the main event, which was supposed to be the Armonis vs. Horace the Psychopath and Switch with Weird Cookie as manager. The stipulation was that if the Armonis lost, Michael would get his head shaved and if they won, Weird Cookie would leave AAW. Cookie cut a promo that said Switch wasn't at the show, but the match would go on.

Match one: Travis Lee & Trilogy (f) beat Lauden Payne and Judge Jesse (h).
The match started quickly with Lee and Trilogy in control for a considerable amount of time. Lee gave Payne a nice power slam in the segment. Jesse finally took offensive control. Payne and Jesse beat the stuffing out of Trilogy. Eventually, Lee got the hot tag and the faces stuck it to Payne and Jesse. Finish came when Lee and Trilogy gave Payne the Hart Attack and Trilogy covered him for the three count. After the match, Payne and Jesse worked over Lee and injured his throat with leg drops across the neck.

Match two: Big Dog Dave Rose pinned The Natural Todd Borchardt in a non-title, no DQ match.
The match opened with The Natural beating on Rose with a garbage can lid. There was plenty more hardcore brawling throughout. Rose pinned Borchardt, the hardcore champ, after a powerbomb off the top rope. The Natural had climbed up the ropes and signaled as if he was going to do a moonsault. Rose crotched him and then picked him up for the powerbomb. After the match, Rose continued to beat on him until Mad Wolverine made the save.

Match three: Prep Boy Timothy (h) with Jerri pinned Travis Lee (f).
Since Timothy's scheduled opponent (don't know who that was) didn't show up, he called anyone from the locker room to come out and wrestle him. Lee, who came out holding his throat, accepted the challenge. He was on fire for a while, but eventually, the valet distracted the referee and Timothy used his golf club to choke Travis and eventually pinned him.

Match four: Mad Wolverine (f) pinned Kamikaze (h).
There was good action throughout this match with some submission wrestling mixed in. Kamikaze worked over Mad Wolverine's knee and eventually put him in a figure four leglock. Wolverine rolled him over to reverse the hold and Kamikaze grabbed the ropes. The finish came when Wolverine caught Kamikaze in an ankle lock.

Match five: Mike "The Bull" Geuke (f) beat Jay Jensen (h) by submission.
The Real Deal Jay Jensen is a former Lunatic Wrestling Federation wrestler from Chicago. He came out wearing a rope and feather boa. Not a bad match but I don't think the crowd knew who Jensen was as I think this was his debut. Finish came when Geuke caught Jensen with a spear, pulled out Jocko (a jock strap with Jocko written on it) and shoved it in Jensen's face for the submission.

Match six: Hannibal (with Rain) beat Venom and Claw (with Ratt on crutches and another guy whose name sounded like Des Martin.)
The biggest pop of the match was when Rain slapped Martin at ringside. Late, they brawled on the floor and then Hannibal rolled in the ring, gave Venom a front face buster and pinned him. After the match, Ratt ended up in the ring and Rain stood on his crotch. Venom grabbed Rain and I think he either kissed her or she bit him and then she gave him a stunner.

Match seven: Angel Armoni and Michael Mersades Armoni (h) beat Horace the Psychopath (f) (with Weird Cookie and Rain).
This was a first blood match and was hands down, the best match of the evening. Angel had a great line when some fan said he likes fat chicks. He responded by saying he does because they offer shade in the summer and heat in the winter. Angel was great on the mike all night. This was a wild match from the start. MMA took a cool bump over the top rope. Later, Horace suplexed MMA on top of scaffolding. The big finish was when Cookie climbed in the ring and attempted to hit AA with an army helmet. He accidentally hit Horace. Then AA hit Horace with a chair. Horace ended up bleeding and referee Craig Smith signaled the match was over. After the match, Weird Cookie was duct taped to the ropes and then Horace turned on Cookie, turning heel.

Angel Armoni cut a promo saying there was now three people in his crew. It was announced that Cookie was out of AAW as a manager but would return as a wrestler to fight Michael Mersades Armoni at the July 29 show.

Notes: The referees were Craig Smith and Mike Diamond. Gino Lanza was the ring announcer. The ring card girls were Crystal and Vanessa and were the riskiest I've seen at the AAW shows (or any show for that matter.) The valet Jerri was formerly ring card girl Sexy Stacy. This was a fun show as AAW fans know the wrestlers and are into the product. The card, however, really needed the main event to deliver and it did.

National Federation of Wrestling
7/7 Bruce, WI
at the Wagon Wheel
War at the Wheel
The National Federation of Wrestling held a show this past Saturday, July 7th at the Wagon Wheel north of Bruce, WI. The show was held outside and began at 7 p.m.

The show started out with Don Roux introducing the newest addition to his crew, Tim Storm. Storm was scheduled to be one of three combatants in a Cruiserweight Title match up with Shinobi & Champion El Supremo. When the match got underway, Storm exited the ring and let the other two go at it. The only time Storm would come in the ring was to break up a pin attempt or to hit someone from behind. When Shinobi went for a submission move, Storm hit him from behind. Only then did Storm hit El Supremo with a pump handle slam and went for a cover. Shinobi broke the count up and hit Storm with the Snakebite. He then went for a superplex on El Supremo, but Supremo turned it into a Tornado DDT from the top. While El Supremo was recovering from the fall, Storm quickly covered Shinobi for the win and the Cruiserweight Title. Storm and Roux left so quickly that Roux left his jacket in the ring so El Supremo & Shinobi destroyed it.

Next up rookie sensation Dysfunction got a surprise when the former World Champion Timebomb made his return after 10 months away from the ring. Timebomb gained the advantage quickly and gained numerous two counts by concentrating on Dysfunction's neck. Dysfunction him off with an eye rake and went on the offensive. However, he kept wasting time after hitting big moves and Timebomb was able to mount a comeback by nailing a clothesline and a spinkick. He then sent Dysfunction into the corner. When he staggered out, Timebomb hit the detonator for the win.

Tasty Travis Lee then faced off against Superstar Steve Stardom. Lee got the advantage early but would hit one move and celebrate to the crowd. Stardom finally had enough and answered by hitting every move Lee had in rapid succession. Lee rolled to the floor and Stardom slingshotted him back in punishing Lee in the corner with brutal chops to the chest. He then hit a Thesz Press and pounded on Lee's head. When he went for a second Thesz press, Lee lifted him up and dropped him neck first across the ropes. Lee then focused his attack on Stardom's neck. Lee thought he had the match won and climbed the ropes for the finish but Stardom moved. He then grabbed Lee for two atomic drops. Lee tried charging out of the corner but Stardom spun it into a piledriver. He followed up with Haley's Comet for the win.

Newcomer Jason Dukes came out and called out Tim Storm for beating up on Cruiserweights. Storm came out with Don Roux and an impromptu match for the number 1 contender spot was on. Dukes' amazing agility allowed him to gain control quickly. Storm rolled to the floor but Dukes came after him and hit a flying clothesline to the ground. He then hit several high risk moves in the ring but was cut off by Don Roux with a low blow. Dukes rallied and pulled Storm's shirt over his head. And hit a spin kick and a pumphandle slam followed by a moonsault. El Supremo rushed the ring and hit Don Roux. In the confusion, Storm rolled up Dukes for the win with his foot on the ropes. Dukes got upset at the ref's bad call and power bombed Storm and left him lying in the ring. Supremo added a few kicks for good measure.

J-Real came out next and began insulting Romeo Valentino. Romeo answered quickly and match five was underway. The two went back and forth until Romeo nailed some brutal chops. J-Real rolled to the floor and cut off Romeo with an elbow to the groin. Romeo rallied several times but J-Real brutally cut him off every time. The crowd then got behind Romeo and Romeo hit J-Real with a superplex so hard that the second rope broke. He then hit his finisher Romeo's Heartbreak for the win.

In the first of two Main Events, World Champion Tiny Tubbs & U.S. Champion Darkchild faced of against Tag Team Champions Amerikid & Rayzor Blade. The match began with Rayzor Blade & Darkchild squaring off. Darkchild quickly gained the advantage and he and Tiny Tubbs began tossing around Rayzor like a rag doll. Rayzor tagged out. Amerikid ducked a clothesline attempt and sent Darkchild to the floor. Both men attacked Darkchild on the floor but Darkchild rallied and sent Amerikid into the post. He then rolled Amerikid in and hit his Sniper line followed by a Stoneplex. He then put Amerikid in the Celtic Knot but Don Roux pulled Amerikid to the ropes. Amerikid then hit a low blow. He and Rayzor Blade tried to double suplex Darkchild but Darkchild hit them both with a DDT and tagged Tiny in. Tim Storm grabbed his foot and Tiny went down. Blade and Amerikid tried to clothesline Tiny but he ran through them. Darkchild came back in and he and Amerikid went at each other. They hit each other with flying facebusters and both men went down. They both tagged out. Rayzor got Tiny's leg but the big man answered with a pinwheel kick. Amerikid didn't want to come in but finally did when Darkchild's back was turned. He charged into a Darkchild superkick followed by the Witchblade and Darkchild gained a pin.

Don Roux then got on the mike and said that it was a two out of three fall match and they still had two more falls to go. The match continued. Then Tiny missed a splash and Rayzor went up top. He missed a top rope splash. They then both tagged out. Darkchild was put into a figure 4 by Amerikid but managed to turn it over. When the ref was distracted 4 members of Roux's Crew pummeled Darkchild in the ring. They then turned their attack to Tiny Tubbs and El Supremo on the floor. Darkchild got to his feet and climbed to the top of the post. He then dove off onto the whole group. He rolled Rayzor in and went up top again but got knocked down and fell with one leg on each side of the top rope. Blade and Amerikid then hit the Ameriblade to win the second fall.

The match went straight into fall three when Darkchild walked the ropes to hit a flying armdrag on Amerikid followed by a piledriver. Tiny Tubbs came in and hit a huge splash on Amerikid. Tubbs and Rayzor took the fight to Roux's Crew and appeared to have the match won when Don Roux distracted the ref. Rayzor then tossed Darkchild a trash can lid and fell down. Then ref turned and saw Rayzor down and Darkchild with the trash can and DQ'd Tiny and Darkchild. Darkchild then made it personal and laid out all of Roux's Crew and the ref. Tiny then hit Tim Storm with a Spinebuster and the crowd cheered.

The NFW then announced the last match would be a hardcore match and that anyone with children might want to leave. Chaz Kildare and Peter B Beautiful then squared off in the last ever Hardcore Title match. The two went at each other with everything they had in a ring covered in tacks; using light tubes, a tack-covered bat, trash cans, and anything they could get their hands on. Chaz had the upper hand through most of the match. Peter finally got some outside assistance from Travis Lee as the two power bombed Chaz into the tacks. Peter then became the final NFW Hardcore Champion.

TV Report
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
NAWF Television
Saturday, July 7th was the debut of NAWF Pro Wrestling All-Stars on UPN 57, a channel out of Janesville/Madison. The show airs on Saturday morning at 11:30 a.m. I saw a commercial for NAWF Pro Wrestling All-Stars on UPN 57 a few days prior to the show, so that is a good sign that the channel is getting behind the show.
Prior to the opening montage, there was a disclaimer on the screen that read, "The NAWF wrestlers are all professional athletes with years of training under there belts. Please do not attempt this at home!!! Please leave this to the STARS." Even if they did use the word "there" instead of "their," it was still nice to see that on the screen.
The opening montage of the show had highlites of various NAWF wrestlers, including Derek St. Holmes, Rockin' Randy, Tank Thomas, Matt Longtime, Brandon Blaze, and others. It also had clips of King Kong Bundy and Jimmy Snuka in the NAWF ring. The clips were pieced together to music, and it looked very nice.
The show opened with NAWF commissioner Ricky Yamamoto who was in the studio. Whoops, the camera man is cutting off the top of his Yamamoto's forehead from the screen. Yamamoto promises groundbreaking, high-intensity, in-your-face wrestling action in the weeks to come.
Match 1: Matt Longtime vs. Brandon Blaze
This match took place back in February of 2001 in Kenosha, WI at Carthage College. There was 1 single camera angle which was from the floor looking up at the ring. There were a few times where referee Jimmy Kennedy wandered his big ass in the way of the camera, blocking out the wrestling action. The commentators for this match were Ricky Yamamoto and Rockin' Randy. Longtime came out to his "What is Love?" theme music, in full GQ Centerfold mode. Blaze came out to a nice pop. The match started off quick, with Longtime being knocked out of the ring. Blaze then went to the top rope and dove off and hit Longtime on the outside with a somersault plancha. Back in the ring, Blaze went to the top rope and went for a corkscrew body block, but he missed and hit the mat hard. Longtime took over with a back elbow, and went up to the top rope to taunt the crowd. We then went to commercial break. The commercials consisted of a promo for the NAWF show in Edgerton and a reminder to businesses that they can get their business advertised on NAWF television.
After the commercial break, we see Longtime hit Blaze right in the mouth with a stiff superkick. Longtime then went for a powerbomb, but Blaze reversed it into a hurracanrana. Blaze stayed on the offense with a Stinger splash followed by a top rope bulldog. Blaze went to the top rope and hit a flying bodypress, but Longtime rolled through it and held the tights for the 1-2-3. They then went to a replay showing the win.
Match 2: Some Guy in a Doink Suit vs. Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka
This match also took place at Carthage College. The wrestler who was known as Some Guy in a Doink Suit was also referred to as The Unauthorized Doink. The commentators during this match were Ricky Yamamoto and Eric Freedom. For some reason, Freedom really liked the ring work of Some Guy in a Doink Suit. He kept pumping him up the whole time. I wonder why that was? Some Guy in a Doink Suit was the heel in the match, and Snuka came out to a big pop. Snuka dominated the match early on, working over the arm and leg of Some Guy in a Doink Suit. The Unauthorized Doink took back over with chokes and other illegal tactics. On commentary, Freedom took numerous jabs about Snuka's age. Some Guy in a Doink Suit dominated most of the match. The tide turned when Some Guy in a Doink Suit went for, and missed, The Clown Elbow. Snuka took over with chops, and then set him up with a side backbreaker. Snuka went to the top rope, and hit the Superfly Splash for the win. You know, in the pro wrestling world today, you can see swantan bombs, moonsaults, 450 splashes from the top rope, but it is amazing how cool the Superfly Splash still is so many years later.
After a commercial break, commissioner Yamamoto stated that in upcoming weeks, they would be showing the match when Jerry Lawler and the Kat came to the NAWF. They then showed a clip of what set up the match-up, the angle where Randy and Freedom turned on Adrian Lynch, and Lawler came to Lynch's aid. That clip ended the show.
Thoughts: UPN 57 is out of Janesville and Madison. Whereas different indy organizations have established territories in different areas of Wisconsin. ACW has Green Bay and northeast Wisconsin, AAW has Eau Claire and Wausau, MAW and GLCW has Milwaukee, but nobody has really come forth and taken over the Madison and Janesville area. If NAWF really wants the show to be successful, they need to start running in Janesville and Madison. I don't remember the last time that there was an indy show in Madison or Janesville. It has been many years. The replays for the show were nice, but the 1 camera angle really hurt the look of the show. NAWF has a strong base to start from, and I am looking forward to the upcoming shows.
