The links are at the bottom of the post.

I finally got around to ordering Tim Larson's Who's Who In The Upper Midwest. I was VERY low on checks and I wanted to make sure I had enough checks to pay the bills.

Powerslam Productions
5/19 Delafield, WI
at Hogg Alley, 2:30 p.m.
Powerslam Productions held a wrestling card on Saturday afternoon, May 19, at 2:30 p.m. It was held at Hogg Alley, a motorcycle bar, outside of Oconomowoc, WI. Attendance was around 80, including lots of bikers. The opening bell was at 2:46 p.m. The referee for the afternoon was Jimmy Kennedy, and the ring announcer was Ricky Yamamoto.

Match 1: Rockin' Randy vs. Brad Hunter.
Prior to the match, Randy treated the crowd to his best serenade of "Jenny (867-5309)." I'll give him credit, I haven't heard Randy sing the same song twice. Anyway, this was a pretty long match, with Randy dominating for the most part. The end came when Randy rolled up Hunter from behind for the win.

Match 2: Derek St. Holmes, Esquire vs. Tom "Rocky" Stone.
Wow, Tom Stone looks nothing like he did 10 years ago. Believe it or not, this was my favorite match of the afternoon. In independent wrestling today, it is rare to see 2 wrestlers have a true scientific match-up. Both of these guys worked over each other's arms, using a wide variety of moves. The crowd stayed into it, with no chants of "boring" like they would likely hear working in front of a WWF crowd. St. Holmes, the heel in the match, was using a foreign object in this match, and would stuff it back in his trunks after he delivered a cheap shot. Stone got the crowd going for the first time in the afternoon when he crotched Holmes against the ring post, twice. The end of the match came when Stone reached into Holmes trunks, and was able to obtain the foreign object. However, referee Jimmy Kennedy saw Stone with the foreign object, and started arguing with him. This gave Holmes the opportunity to pick up his ever-present Book of Knowledge. He went to hit Stone with it, but Stone ducked. Holmes then dropped the book. Stone picked up the book, but Holmes was able to dropkick the book back into Stone's face, and Holmes got the 1-2-3.

Match 3: Chad Staples vs. Rich Orgas.
This was the first time that I had ever seen either guy. Staples looks a lot like Aladdin from the Disney movie. Orgas was the face in this match, and he had a lot of fans in the crowd. Anyway, this was a very short, sloppy match. After about 2 minutes, the Southern Mississippi Militia ran-in and beat up both guys. Staples took the brunt of the beating, taking a wicked chokeslam from Col. Corruption and a powerbomb from Major Mayhem. Trevor Adonis ran in for the save. The match was ruled a no-contest.

Match 4: Brandon Blaze vs. Jake "The Milkman" Milliman.
Brandon was the heel here, and he did a good job getting heat for this match. Jake was the babyface, and he had the crowd solidly behind him. Blaze again looked good, missing an excellent-looking springboard legdrop. The end of the match came when Blaze buried a knee into Milliman's gut after an Irish whip. Following another Irish whip, Blaze again went for the same knee, but Milliman was able to swing around Blaze and roll him up for the pin.

Match 5: Sgt. Medallion vs. Matt Dearth.
Following a half-hour intermission, was the NYPD outcast in Sgt. Medallion as he took on Matt Dearth. Medallion got a lot of "piggy" chants early in the match. The match was largely dominated by Medallion, hitting both a 2nd rope and top rope elbow drop onto Dearth. The end came when Medallion hit a stiff DDT on Dearth, and got the pin.

Match 6: Jan Jones & Ice Walters vs. Southern Mississippi Militia.
I missed the majority of this match due to the guy next to me talking to me. Anyway, the end of the match came when ref Jimmy Kennedy got knocked down. Major Mayhem then grabbed one of the Great Lakes Championship Wrestling tag team title belts and was about to hit Jones. In ran Trevor Adonis who took the belt away from Mayhem. SWERVE! Adonis then hit Jones in the head with the title belt, and Mayhem got the pin. After the match, Adonis unmasked Major Mayhem to reveal Rich Orgas.

Match 7: Lumberjack match: Eric Freedom vs. Tough Tom.
This was a lumberjack match, with lumberjacks surrounding the ring. Freedom was the heel and Tom was the babyface. Whenever Freedom got thrown out of the ring to the heels side, they allowed him to take his time to get in the ring. However when Tom got thrown out to the heels side, he got a major beating. Tom looked great like usual, hitting power moves like a sweet powerslam and a Michinoku driver. The end came when Jimmy Kennedy got knocked down after Tom delivered a spinebuster to Freedom. Tom then covered Freedom, but there was no referee to count. Blaze then went to the top rope, and attempted a splash onto Tom. However Tom moved, and Blaze splashed Freedom. Blaze was then thrown over the top rope, and Tom delivered a Rock Bottom to Freedom for the pin.

This was an okay card. It was only $8 to get in, so it was well worth it.

Shifty pinned Shawn Daivari with a second rope ripcord-rocker dropper.

Cruel and Unusual pinned City Slicker Jake Ricker and Tasty Travis Lee with the Cruel Intentions (Xavior has a split leg on his opponent, then Hoofer comes off the ropes with bulldog).

Straight Edge Eric Hammers pinned God's Gift Kevin Krueger.

Black Stallion and Shawn Daivari went to a no contest when the MPW locker room emptied and had an impromptu Battle Royal. In this match we saw Shawn Daivari fly off the second rope with an Asai moonsault to Kevin Krueger, City Slicker Jake Ricker, and Tasty Travis Lee. As they regrouped Straight Edge Eric Hammers flew off the top rope to the outside onto everyone. Then Shifty came flying OVER the top rope with a no handed plancha. Close to the end saw Ian Xavior chokeslam Sheriff Johnny Emerald off the apron through a table.

City Slicker Jake Ricker pinned Shawn Daivari with a second rope tamikaze.

Black Stallion pinned God's Gift Kevin Krueger with a powerslam.

Lacey pinned Ashley Xavior.

Shifty pinned God's Gift Kevin Krueger in a tag match with Black Stallion, against Tasty Travis Lee. Close to the end saw Shifty hit a Shifty-vault legdrop (slingshot leg drop) to the outside onto Tasty Travis Lee through a table.

Big Daddy Hoofer pinned Playboy Pete Huge with a top rope splash.

Sheriff Johnny Emerald pinned City Slicker Jake Ricker with the Strong Arm of the Law (Pedigree).

Shawn Daivari pinned Shifty in a triple threat match between them and Black Stallion. At one point Black Stallion and Shifty threw Shawn Daivari with a super beal over the top rope, to the outside, through a table.

Kevin Krueger pinned Ian Xavior with a school boy and by pulling the tights.

Sheriff Johnny Emerald and City Slicker Jake Ricker made amends and decided to tag against Cruel and Unusual. Unfortunatly due to lack of team work, C&U won the match. The end of the match saw a double chokeslam by C&U to Sheriff Johnny Emerald through a table.

Cruiserweight Title Match: El Supremo def. Shinobi by DQ to retain the title. Shinobi appeared to have the match won when Roux's Crew ran in and began pummeling El Supremo. Don Roux handed Shinobi a chair expecting him to side with Roux's Crew but instead he attacked Roux's Crew with the chair. He then helped El Supremo to his feet and the two of them issued a challenge to Amerikid & Rayzor Blade for the Tag team titles at the next show.

World Title Match: In perhaps the year's most outstanding moments of stupidity, Rayzor Blade challenged any title holder in the back to put their title on the line against him. Unfortunately for Rayzor, the challenge was answered by World Champion Tiny Tubbs. The 400-pound hillbilly made short work of Rayzor Blade (the match was over in about 2 minutes.) Tiny retained his World Title.

Next up was K.C. Style who was scheduled to face a mystery opponent. K.C. got the surprise of his life when that opponent turned out to be the returning Tank. To K.C.'s credit, he didn't back down and took the fight to the mastodon. Eventually Tank was able to ground the high flyer and went on to victory in this, his return to the NFW.

The evening's fourth match was a brutal 3 way dance with Red Lightning, NFW newcomer J-Real, and Romeo Valentino. J-Real and Red appeared to team up in the beginning but had an argument over who should be allowed to make the cover. Romeo Valentino got up during the confusion but was put down again by a brutal chair shot to the head from J-Real. The chair shot opened a large gash in Romeo's head. Romeo's face was a mask of blood as fell from the shot. Red Lightning delivered the Lightning Bolt to J-Real on the chair and picked up the chair to hit Romeo again. This time Romeo was ready and kicked the chair into Red's face. J-Real rolled over and grabbed the chair. He stood up, still stunned from the Lightning Bolt and Romeo again delivered a kick to the chair. J-Real went down and Romeo got the win. Romeo was examined by the trainers in the back and was quickly taken to the hospital where he received 6 staples to close the wound in his head.

Hardcore Title Match: Peter B Beautiful and Chaz Kildare engaged in a brutal hardcore match for the Peter B Beautiful's Hardcore title. All the stops were pulled out on this match as the two battled with chairs, staple guns, bottles and whatever else they could get their hands on. The action spilled out to the floor. Peter tried to set Chaz on a table but Chaz cut him off and put Peter on the table. Chaz then climbed a 18 foot ladder and dove off about 12 feet from the floor, crashing through Peter and the table. The ref counted 3 and a new champion was crowned. Dangerous Don Roux came to the ring and said that the match was unsanctioned and therefore Peter was still the champion. Peter reached for the belt and Chaz laid him out with it. Chaz grabbed the mike and told Peter the belt was now the NFW hardcore belt and they'd face again to settle this. Later in the night, it was learned they would face again at the next Ladysmith show in a ladder match.

In the main event, U.S. Champion Darkchild faced off against rival Amerikid in an epic battle that lasted nearly a half an hour. Neither man would back down in this rematch as the action went back and forth. The crowd was solidly behind Darkchild throughout the match. Amerikid got the upper hand at around the 12 minute mark and began punishing the man from Stonehenge. After several brutal leg drops, Amerikid sent Darkchild into the corner. Darkchild went up and over the ropes and Amerikid charged him on the ring apron. Darkchild ducked and pulled down the rope sending Amerikid crashing to the floor. Amerikid's manager Don Roux helped Amerikid up and Darkchild quickly attacked. Darkchild dove off the ring apron onto Don Roux and Amerikid, sending them into the broken glass from the previous hardcore match. Darkchild rolled back in the ring and was followed by Amerikid. Darkchild applied the Celtic Knot (sharpshooter) and the match appeared to be over. But manager Don Roux pulled Amerikid to the ropes and Darkchild had to break the hold. Darkchild then picked up Amerikid and delivered a brutal Double Under Suplex sending Amerikid nearly 8 feat in the air before crashing down. Don Roux then started to get up on the ring apron and Darkchild chased him around the ring. When he got back in Amerikid cut him off with shoulder the midsection. When Amerikid stated chopping Darkchild in the corner. Darkchild quickly reversed in and sent Amerikid in for the Celtic Cross (Stinger Splash.) Amerikid staggered out of the corner and Darkchild met him with three huge punches. The third punch flipped Amerikid backwards and he landed hanging in the ropes. Darkchild snapped him up and let him crash to the mat. He then sent Amerikid into the ropes and hit the Witchblade for the win to retain his US Title.

Battle Royal
Red Lightning was the winner of the Battle Royal. As he started celebrating with Roux's Crew, Darkchild and El Supremo ran out from the back and cleared the ring. Darkchild sent in Red Lightning and gave him the Witchblade. The crowd erupted as Darkchild and El Supremo stood defiant after clearing the ring of Roux's Crew.

Shawn Daivari pinned City Slicker Jake Ricker with the devastaSHAWN (180 twisting inverted side Russian legsweep).

Straight Edge Eric Hammers pinned Sheriff Johnny Emerald. The end saw City Slicker Jake Ricker running and double teaming Hammers, until Black Stallion made the save. A match was signed later that evening for Hammers and Stallion vs. Ricker and The Sheriff.

Ian Xavior pinned T-Bone with the Power Play (Cradle Suplex).

Shifty pinned God's Gift Kevin Krueger. This match saw a Shifty-vault onto Krueger who was on a table outside the ring.

Lacey pinned Ashley Xavior.

Shifty pinned Shawn Daivari with a rip-cord rockerdropper off the apron to the ground.

Black Stallion pinned City Slicker Jake Ricker in a tag match with Straight Edge Eric Hammers against Sheriff Johnny Emerald. The end of the match saw Eric Hammers put Sheriff through a table.

Ian Xavior pinned Tasty Travis Lee with the Power Play (cradle suplex).

Big Daddy Hoofer pinned Tasty Travis Lee.

Ian Xavior pinned Sheriff Johnny Emerald to wrap up the show. Sheriff Johnny Emerald took a chokeslam through a table. This one was by far the most devastating.

French Lake Wrestling Association
5/27 Mayer, MN
at Bootleggers Bar
Oh, what a night it was in Mayer, Minnesota, for wrestling. The card took place in the beer garden of Bootleggers Bar in front of about 60 people. Bootleggers is a biker bar in a small town so there were plenty of Kawasaki Ninja comments by the heels.

Match one: Chi-Town Thug with McCoy Counterfeit (h) pinned Iron Mike America (f).
Former Chippendale Counterfeit came out and started to strip to "Relax." He did the worm, but the crowd was not asking him to take off more clothes when the music stopped, saying the poor fans. Wrestling was fine, crowd was dead. Finish came when Iron Mike tried to pick up Chi-Town, but Counterfeit pulled Mike's foot. Chi-Town landed on top of Mike and referee Joe Erickson counted the pin.

Match two: Heather Whitefeather (f) pinned Autumn Hayze with McCoy Counterfeit. (h)
The match mercifully ended when Whitefeather gave Hayze a body slam, slammed her head into Counterfeit's head and rolled her up for the pin at 5:19.

Match three: Pit Boss (f) beat Primetime (h) by forfeit
Just when you think you saw it all in wrestling, something new happens. As Primetime was being introduced, he walked into the beer garden, picked up a potted plant and threw it. It broke on the rocks of the beer garden. The match started and they brawled a bit outside the ring. Each man used a little of the plastic furniture during the brawl. While outside the ring, the bar owner, mad from Primetime breaking the pot of flowers, came and threw him out of the bar legit. End of match.

An intermission was needed after all the excitement.

Match four: Mitch Paradise (f) pinned Matt Burns with Mortimer Plumtree (h)
This was the match the crowd popped for the most during the card. Burns took an awesome foot to the face, and later he delivered a standing a senton. They teased the chokeslam several time and eventually Paradise caught him with one of his best chokeslams ever.

Match five: Buck ZumHofe & Terry Fox (f) beat The Lost Souls -- JB Trask and Johnny Parks (with the High Rollers) (h)
The match was supposed to be the High Rollers versus ZumHofe and Fox, but new FLWA commissioner Mago of the High Rollers said they were taking the Lost Souls. ZumHofe was not well liked in the biker crowd and most hoped The Lost Souls would kill the babyfaces. The match came down to the Lost Souls working over Fox including giving him a Michinoku Driver. They also gave ZumHofe the What's Up Drop. Buck received the "hot" tag, but there wasn't a pop. The faces ended up being whipped into each other. The Lost Souls then whipped Fox and ZumHofe into the ropes, but they ended up catching the Lost Souls with sunset flips to score the pin. The Lost Souls then tossed Fox and ZumHofe out of the ring to the crowd's approval.

Match six: Lenny Lane with the High Rollers beat Scotty Zappa by reversed decision.
Early in the match, Mago gave Lenny a foreign object that he put in the turnbuckle. A fan then took it out only to have Chi-Town Thug have to put it back in there. At one point, a fan climbed up on the ring apron after something Lenny said to him. Finish came when Lenny had the foreign object only to have it knocked out of his hand by a kick from Zappa, who picked it up and hit Lenny. Referee Jay Soltis, who was making sure the High Rollers weren't getting in the mix, turned around and counted the pin. A new FLWA champ was announced, but then Soltis lifted Zappa's arm, the object fell to the canvas. That forced head referee Soltis to reverse the decision.
